hand dyed using avocado, producing apricot
printed pattern - tulip
about the dye plant -
Avocados are great because they’re so unexpected and they’re very versatile. You can achieve different colors from the skin and the pit. If you’ve ever cracked open the pit on an avocado, you’d see a pinky tone, which is the color you see here. Of course, I did not grow these avocados, but they are a very popular dye plant so I had to try. As many dye baths do, the color will shift depending on how long you let it sit. The color starts very light and will gradually become pinker. This bath produced purple speckles.
