hand dyed using coreopsis, producing a bright orange with subtle shifts to red-orange

about the dye plant -
I’m lucky to have a garden where coreopsis grows like a weed. Each stem is peppered with wispy, tendril-y leaves. A golden yellow flower brightens the carpet of evergreen we’ve planted along the roadside. I include every part of the plant in my dye bath – for the most part, the color is consistently a fire-y orange with moments of a darker red-orange.
I’ve modified my coreopsis bath with both vinegar and baking soda, and have achieved a lighter more golden-y tone.
