about the dye plant -

sumac –

The sumac was foraged from a local hiking area called the Greylock Glen. The plants themselves are a red-y pink, the extract begins that color, but begins to shift to a red-orange. After the silk rested, the color set to a burnt orange to brown depending on the lighting.
